It all started two years back, when a skinny guy, no different than any other guy, wanted to ‘just join’ gym to gain some strength and muscle (YES, i wanted to look good too :p), and so he did. The results were mind blowing in the first six months of training. I went from being a 56kgs skinny guy to a 64 kgs not so skinny guy. My improvement was appreciated by everyone i knew. Well, i should not forget to mention that the improvement was made possible by our very own ‘google university’. I studied basic nutrition and training and personal developments and other fitness related stuff. But six months later, I found myself stuck at 64kgs and no matter what i did, let it be making changes in nutrition or training plan or anything, i could not get any further improvements. Now that was the first setback, but even then, i did not stop training. I kept my spirit up and kept my training and nutrition on point from my side (though all the hard work at gym and money spent on nutrition was going in vain since i could not get any results out of it). That was the time i came in contact with the fitness coach Vivek Ghangas of Alpharaj, because of whom I am what I am today and because of whom, i look what I look today. More than just a coach, you are a mentor. A guide, walking behind whom, i would not have to ever worry about getting lost in this big and complicated world of bodybuilding and fitness. “THANK YOU” would be too small a word to express my gratitude towards you and Team Alpharaj. 🙂 The best part about “The Alpharaj Method” of training is that it does not complicate things. From my perspective, it says ‘growing, exploring and developing our bodies is not as complicated and difficult as we think it is’. We just need to have right knowledge and right guidance. I am Cadet Piyush Gupta from NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY {NDA}. Being in NDA, I don’t have access to mobile or internet like you all have. I contacted Alpharaj through my elder brother. Initially my father was quite reluctant to join Alpharaj but we took the chance. I was in a condition in which I would have lost my prefix i.e “CADET” and my shoulder titles written on them was “N.D.A”. I in my life have never done any physical work and hence it was tough for me to compete at NDA. I was having my last two chances of clearing my PT tests and the task in front of Aman Sir was to make me do what i wasn’t able to do for the past 8 months. I had only 30 days in hand but he was confident and he gave strength to me. I gave my second last attempt and failed. Everything came crashing upon me. Me and my brother went on Aman Sir like thunderbolts. But he was calm and composed. He told me that you still have another chance left. You will pass the test. He somehow gave me strength. I worked as was told and started to do 5 toe touches instead of the 3 needed and of course, I passed my test! He not only told me how to do things. he also told me as to how not to do. He educated me about the muscle growth and diet plans. So all thanks to him that he supported me and saved my career. A note to all fitness enthusiasts: Believe me when I say this, he is THE trainer available at least in India. He not only gets you to your desired goal but also teaches you how the things are done. I have been a member of Alpharaj for almost a year now. I don’t compete in any sport but I like to exercise and keep myself healthy. I used to exercise and eat well but I never experienced the same progress, which I did after joining Alpharaj. I was able to drop my bodyfat to a level that I thought was only possible cosmetically. I was enjoying at the same time and not being a control freak about my nutrition. The session was great for a beginner. The information wasn’t overwhelming and easy enough to be applicable in a layman’s life. I especially liked the part where we learned how to estimate the number of calories one would need to consume for weight loss/gain. Before the session I wasn’t aware of the numerous quacks that currently operate the nutrition business. It cleared up a lot of myths that I had about nutrition and also taught me to critically evaluate any information that I come across regarding nutrition.

Staying away from family is not an easy task, all things aside the most you miss is the good, clean homemade food. It had been 3 years since I stayed away from my family and due to erratic work timings and deadlines most meals would be in a restaurant or take-away and sometimes there would be no time for lunch. And this took a toll on my health. I started getting repeated migraine attacks. At first they were once a week, which would subside after a Disprin and some, aerated drinks (thumbs up was my go-to drink during migraines). Later these migraines became severe, sometimes up to twice a day and every alternate day. One Disprin went up to two Disprins on most days, with migraines causing blurred vision, numbness and tingling in hands and feet. Disprins were replaced by Combiflams. I started throwing up food almost immediately after eating. The peak was when I was diagnosed with Colitis, IBS and painful acne (Staph infection due to low immunity). That’s when I knew this lifestyle had to change. I quit my job and moved back to Pune. I had hit a new low of 50kgs. Back home, I started eating home food, gymming and taking care of myself, visited some doctors who prescribed antacids and other short-term fixes. But the damage was done, even eating one meal outside would result in indigestion and severe migraines. Something as basic as Pani Puri wouldn’t suit me. I got healthier but could not undo the damage to my digestive system. I was on some sort of an antibiotic throughout the week – acne medication, stomach related etc. I have known Aman Duggal since childhood, he was my cousin’s best friend, quiet guy at parties and usually far too mature for his age since childhood. My cousin and couple of friends recommended him to me. And I thought to myself, “it can’t get any worse than this!!” Aman and team Alpharaj started from the absolute root of the issue. He made it clear that there were no quick-fixes and we must find a sustainable solution in order to get long term benefits. He gave me a work-out schedule and diet and constantly followed up with me regarding my habits (water intake and lifestyle) He was very firm regarding the medication – no Antibiotics, no painkiller, unless it was absolutely required, we were going to approach this scientifically. I had to unlearn and learn everything from the absolute zero! The efforts from Aman were not just superficial, he studied upon my case history, researched and sent me articles that educated me. It was not preachy because as I was getting better, I was getting educated as to why this happened to me and how can I get better in the longer run. It has been a year since I am with Aman, Today I can say my migraines have come down from twice a week to once in 4 months. My digestion has improved; I can now freely eat whatever I want without worrying about the repercussions. My acne infection is practically gone. I currently range at around 64kgs. And I can vouch for it, all this was done without any antibiotic or special medicine. This good health is not a destination, it’s a long ever-continuing journey and thanks to Aman, my journey has begun. Thanks team Alpharaj and Aman!

For a long time I was struggling with my weight loss. I weighed around 86 kgs. The love handles and the man boobs used to discourage me, and looking into the mirror was not a pleasant sight. One other difficulty that I faced was that I had no means of filtering the right authentic information from the wrong one. Internet made it worse. The best comfort that I got after choosing Alpharaj to coach me, was that I got evidence based guidance. Back in 2009 or 2010, I decided to become vegetarian for ethical reasons. I wanted to find substitutes for dairy and eggs and switch to a vegan lifestyle but I found that difficult since:
1. Most products on the market had dairy in them
2. After rejoining the gym, I was advised to consume eggs to prevent a “protein deficiency”
I wasn’t happy with this so finally with help of Aman and Team Alpharaj, I got a good Vegan diet plan & on the very first day I realized that within 3 meals out of 5 per day my daily protein goal (2 g/kg of my bodyweight) was achieved. After following the vegan diet plan designed by Aman and Team Alpharaj, I’m feeling much better than before.

When someone helps you prepare for a competition, all you want to do is give your everything and be the best. But training with Alpharaj was way more than that… It changed me a lot as a person. Of course, I didn’t realize that until I was done with it. It all started when I had a conversation with Aman about the strongman competition that was going to be held in Pune.. I just told him that I wanted to prepare well this time unlike the one that happened in Jan but I had only 3 weeks in hand, and it began! One thing I’ll never forget is my conversations with Aman and all his tips and tricks to better all my lifts. He took time out of his busy schedule to teach me and fix my form.. It wasn’t just one day but every week. It just wasn’t like I was told to do something and I did it. Before every workout I was told exactly how I need to go about doing every lift and the weights I need to be lifting. That just eliminated everything that I could possibly assume or misunderstand. Setting that routine and discipline is just what helped my condition my mind and body for the D-day. I just had to lift whatever was in front of me without second guessing myself. Team Alpharaj put me on this auto pilot mode which was the best thing that ever happened!!! On the day of the competition, I got so much support from them. Aman and Vivek told me exactly what I had to do with each lift. Without that support and energy I don’t think I’d manage any of what I did. My max in Jan was the 120 kg deadlift and honestly for me, getting 145 kg (320 lb) was a major milestone but I felt it was a target high enough. Getting that 320 was just amazing… 3 weeks isn’t too much time to prepare for anything.But for me, team Alpharaj is a bunch of confident magicians. Being a part of the team showed me the potential I never saw in myself. I was lifting a decent amount of weight even before Alpharaj happened but talking to Aman and the way he threw huge numbers at me and said you’ll do that easily just made me believe that I can do everything? More than what happened at the competition that’s what mattered the most…I feel prepared to take anything on coz I know can do it. That kind of positive energy and confidence is something that has just multiplied after being a part of the team. Their scientific approach and style is so so addictive that I’m not only stronger but smarter than I was before I started… Thank you all so so much!! Everyone in this world wants to be fit, strong and live a healthy life and I’m one of them. But I never had a thought of body building ever before. But as I joined college I felt that I’m very lean and weak and just simple as other guys around me. So I decided to transform myself and joined a nearby gym. I had approached Alpharaj expecting very little from them. My only expectation from them was that they need to get me in shape. I got a lot more than what I expected. In fact, they changed my whole life. On the left side is me in September 2015 and on the right is my most recent picture. In total I lost 25 kgs of weight (from 95kg to 70kg). It will take me a few more months to get to my goal physique, but I know I will get there. I started lifting weights under the guidance of coach Aman Duggal, founder of Alpharaj. I learned a lot about nutrition under Aman’s guidance and applied it in my life. The amount of information on nutrition and exercise that him and his team shared with me was close to unlimited. I have had conversations with them which were anywhere between 1-3 hours long and they never complained even once. I would like to thank my parents who supported me all the way, right from motivating me to helping me track every calorie by being patient enough and allowing me to weigh all my food ingredients. Alpharaj, wooho, how much this word means to me now. If anyone told me back in Feb that someone could help me with my goals, I’d have laughed in their face.  Let me give you my background, I had struggled with a back injury for 2 years at that point, had an MRI and doctors depressed the shit out of me, I had stopped exercising and weighed at freaking 88 kgs (when my healthy weight was 75-77 kgs). I was literally in a shit hole, and one of my seniors suggested that I should subscribe to services of Alpharaj. I talked to Aman Duggal, he was super understanding and motivated me by giving his own example of how he braved the back injury (which was way worse than mine). Over the next 6 months, Aman Duggal helped me fix my posture, loose 5 kgs (more than this in fat), and above all gave me hope and proper guidance on how to form habits and be consistent. I could ask any amount of questions and of any level of stupidity, even as simple as “Can I do it?”, and he would reply to everything calmly and with a professional tone. Even when I fell sick and sometimes skipped gym, Alpharaj never gave me any reason to complain that they didn’t do this or that. Before March I was an overweight slacker who slouched before laptop eating chips and burgers and didn’t know where he was heading. Today, I carefully plan and cook my own meals, keep fast food to barely 1-2 times a week, try to hit a certain amount of protein every day, and most importantly hit the gym 2-3 times a week despite the grueling graduate school schedule. Alpharaj gave me perfect foundation through which I can make an informed decision about what to eat and what to exercise, and how to work towards my rehabilitation. But the best takeaway from those 6 months is how I developed positive habits and stuck to them, which helped me in other aspects of my life too. When I started training a couple of years back I had never thought that I would be able to achieve this transformation. I was lucky enough to sneak in a workout session with Alpharaj coaches, Vivek and Aman just when I was beginning to train, and that’s what I would call the turning point in my life. That one workout session helped me build up the motivation and make the decision that I was going to train hard for years to come. After that, Vivek helped me stay motivated and constantly provided me nutrition and workout tips and feedback on my progress, which helped me stay on track and gain lean weight. “My life at the gym!” I believe this title is absolutely congruent with the way I have lived in the past few years. I being an obese kid in my late teens started training to loose some body weight. Over the years I realized that training was something lot more than a number to be achieved on the weighing scale. It was a sense of expression for me. I could just wear a shabby pullover; a pair of shorts; rugged shoes, put on the earphones and be myself and enjoy the smell of my sweat. Over the years I just figured that the only thing you can do to achieve your goals is to give your bloody best every training session on that day and leave the rest to take its course. Sooner than later you will realize that days will turn into months and months into years and you will be closer than you were a day before. There is no magic here, no shortcut – you need to enjoy the grind, you must fall in love with the process. After 7 years of tireless grind, I have realized that training has made me a better human and an achiever. It has taught me discipline, it has taught me to lift myself up from rock bottom, it has taught me hard work, it has taught me that everything can be accomplished if you genuinely wish and work for it. Today for me a good physique is just a byproduct and my real gains are not the size of my waist but the ones mentioned above. When I started, I always felt that the journey is mine and I would have to walk it alone. But i was wrong. Two years ago I found Aman, a coach, trainer, mentor or a motivator, whatever name you might like,  for me he was everything but more importantly a friend who believed in me and my goals and just gave it the perfect direction. I’d say to me he is what Bob Bowman would be to Micheal Phelps. Thank you Aman! Guys to conclude I’d say that always take a broader perspective in life and go out there and grind every single day no matter how hard life is because life was never meant to be easy and training is equivalent to knowledge, both will be your best buddies and will always have your back every single day of this incredible journey.

To be able to lose 66 pounds was like a dream to me 4 months ago. But I was able to achieve this very easily with Alpharaj.  I was going through a very tough time, struggling to handle my own body weight. I had developed a lot of health issues – acidity, instant vomiting after every meal, joint pain, weakness, severe cough and cold, skin darkening and I was unable to play sports. I was so disappointed in myself for gaining weight and I felt like I was never going to lose it. I felt like I was going to be fighting this battle for the rest of my life. Lose some weight, feel great, gain it all back, and feel terrible. Rinse and repeat. I knew I needed help and Alpharaj was exactly who I needed, the great trio Aman Duggal, Vivek Ghangas & Pranav Kale, their coaching and science based knowledge has made me enjoy this process completely. With Aman, nutrition guidance, I have never felt more in control of my diet than I have over the past few months. I have the typical history of a bad relationship with food and my body – instead of damaging those relationships even further, his process has repaired those things. I get to eat ice cream whenever I want (in moderation, of course). I can go out to eat with friends and not stress about food. My dietary adherence has not been 100% the entire time, and yes I would have made more progress if it had been, but I’m okay with slow and steady. That is the biggest thing I learned from him. I don’t need to make myself miserable by being deprived of the things that I enjoy. It’s okay to do things that make you happy while you are in fat loss, even if that thing is a small serving of ice cream every day. With Vivek, I love that his weight training program is really just for me right now. It keeps me healthy and re-energizes my soul time with the basics like grow my legs, shoulders, and strength. I have more time to sleep, chill with family, travel, and enjoy with besties and even get some dates in now. With Pranav, mindfulness meditation is blissful, his meditation techniques has helped me to be more relaxed and in touch with myself. When you go into any workout, you have a lot of work and family things going on, and it’s tough to leave that at the door, meditation helps bring you back to the present, to the room you’re in and how you’re feeling with each movement. What stood out about your session was the importance you placed on clearing up various myths.
